Bios Raised in Hawaii, Todd St. John later moved to Tucson and San Diego before eventually ending up in New York, where he now runs his own studio. In addition to Green Lady, St. John has worked as an art director/designer in film, television, environmental, and print mediums. Before launching his own company, St. John worked as art director at MTV on numerous print and on-air projects. While there, his direction and design credits included the show graphics for the '98 and '99 Sports and Music Festivals (SMF2&3), as well as the Summer 1999 channel redesign. In addition to his design work, St. John teaches an occasional class at SVA and has been a guest graduate critic at Yale. Gary Benzel grew up in Las Vegas, NV, and Tucson, AZ, and currently lives in San Diego, CA, where he has run his own design office since 1996. Benzel began doing design for magazines, then moved to art direction and design for footwear, apparel, music, and publishing industry clients. St. John and Benzel have designed for numerous clients including MTV, Sony, Adidas, Raygun Magazine, Interscope Records, The Getty, Giant Robot Magazine, Airwalk, Knopf, Mammoth Records, Chronicle Books, and Little/Brown. Their work has been featured in a number of books, magazines & exhibits, including the Art Directors Club Young Guns 1 & 2 exhibits in 1997 and 1999. Green Lady has had solo exhibits in Austin and Seattle, has been featured in shows in New York and Boston and was recently one of four artist/contributors to Arkitip Magazine #4. |
